Lima, OH (February 2025) – OhioMeansJobs Allen County has named Avi Sorrels, a senior at Lima Central Catholic and a student in Apollo Career Center’s Welding and Fabrication program, as the February Student Employee of the Month.

Avi discovered his passion for welding at a young age and has worked hard to develop his skills. He is currently an intern at Lima Sheet Metal, where he continues to learn on the job. His school counselor nominated him for this recognition because of his strong work ethic and dedication. Throughout high school, he has balanced both his education and employment, demonstrating a commitment to his future career.

Lima Sheet Metal’s general manager saw Avi’s potential from the beginning, impressed by his professionalism and willingness to learn. Over time, Avi has proven to be a dependable employee who communicates well and takes initiative. Working 15 to 20 hours a week, Avi has gained valuable hands-on experience in welding. He enjoys working at Lima Sheet Metal and hopes to continue with the company after graduation.
