OhioMeansJobs Allen County Connects High School Students to Career Opportunities

LIMA, Ohio – As the new school year begins, OhioMeansJobs Allen County is expanding efforts to prepare local students for life after graduation through its High School Job Coach program. Active in all 14 Allen County high schools, the program gives students hands-on support with career readiness, job applications, and long-term planning.

Business Services Manager Trent Wise highlighted the value of early exposure to OhioMeansJobs resources. “Many students don’t realize the tools they have until a coach shows them how to use them,” he said, noting that job coaches guide students through building resumes, creating online profiles, and applying search filters to connect with local employers.

High School Job Coach Tyler Christoff emphasized the program’s broader impact. “It’s not just about getting a job right now—it’s about helping students set career goals and explore training or education that aligns with their future,” he explained.

By blending practical job-seeking tools with career exploration, OhioMeansJobs Allen County is ensuring that students graduate with both the skills and the confidence to succeed in today’s workforce.
