Bluffton High School Senior Dillon Watkins Named January 2025 Student Employee of the Month

Dillon Watkins, a senior at Bluffton High School, has been recognized by OhioMeansJobs Allen County as the January 2025 Student Employee of the Month for his dedication both in the classroom and the kitchen.

Dillon’s love for cooking began early, fueled by cooking shows with his dad and hands-on experimentation. Today, he channels that passion into his part-time job at Kira’s Flipside Grill in Bluffton, where he works 30-35 hours a week while excelling in school and competing in esports. “Cooking in a busy kitchen is intense but exciting,” Dillon shared. “I love learning new skills and working with all kinds of food.”

Justin Clark, head chef at Kira’s Flipside Grill, praises Dillon’s versatility and attitude. “He’s reliable, hardworking, and fun to work with. Whether it’s the grill or another station, Dillon handles it all.”

Dillon’s impact extends beyond work. Bluffton High School Principal Mike Minnig commended him as a student who enhances classroom discussions.

OhioMeansJobs Allen County highlighted Dillon’s success as part of their mission to connect students with career pathways. High school job coach Tyler Christoff emphasized their lifelong support for students pursuing various career or educational goals.

As Dillon looks to the future, he’s considering attending the Culinary Institute of America or Columbus State College, where he hopes to further develop his culinary skills.

Congratulations to Dillon Watkins on this well-deserved honor!
